Ontario Construction AED Reimbursement Program Ontario Construction AED Reimbursement Program

Ontario Construction AED Reimbursement Program

 Key Points

To support compliance with Ontario Regulation 157/25, the Province of Ontario has introduced an AED reimbursement program for eligible construction projects. This program is designed to offset part of the cost of purchasing a compliant AED and encourage early adoption of life-saving equipment on job sites.

Under the reimbursement framework, eligible constructors may claim reimbursement for one AED per project, provided specific criteria are met. To qualify, the construction project must last three months or longer, regularly employ 20 or more workers, and have a CPR/AED-trained worker present while work is underway. The AED must be licensed by Health Canada and purchased within the eligibility window of July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2027. Applications are expected to open January 1, and supporting documentation will be required.

Because only one AED per project is eligible for reimbursement, selecting the correct AED from the outset is critical. Choosing a non-licensed, unsupported, or inappropriate device may result in a denied claim, leaving the constructor responsible for the full cost. Additionally, improper documentation or missing inspection records may jeopardize reimbursement eligibility even if the AED itself is compliant.

AED4Life helps Ontario constructors navigate this process by supplying reimbursement-eligible AEDs that meet Health Canada and regulatory requirements. Each AED is bundled with TrackMyAED™, which helps maintain inspection logs, training records, and compliance documentation needed for both inspections and reimbursement claims. This reduces the administrative complexity associated with compliance while ensuring that documentation is readily available when required.

By planning ahead and selecting a compliant AED solution early, Ontario construction companies can reduce financial risk, avoid last-minute compliance challenges, and ensure they are positioned to take advantage of available reimbursement opportunities.
