Ontario Leads North America in Construction Site Safety with AED Mandate
A landmark moment for worker safety: Ontario has announced proposed legislation that would make AEDs mandatory on construction sites with 20+ workers lasting over three months. This would be the first jurisdiction in North America to require defibrillators on larger construction projects.
Why is this important?
Cardiac arrest is a silent killer. It can happen without warning—even on a job site. In fact, over 15% of Ontario’s workplace inspection reports related to cardiac events have been in construction. The chances of survival drop by 10% every minute without defibrillation. But when CPR and an AED are used together within the first few minutes, survival rates can exceed 50%.
AED4Life is here to support every step of this initiative. We are Canada’s largest distributor of Health Canada-approved AEDs, including:

• ZOLL Plus – Rugged design, voice guidance, long-life battery
• Philips FRx – Built for tough environments and trained responders
• Philips OnSite – Easy for lay responders, ready-to-use pads
